Final Fantasy XIII-2 Midnight Release

FFXIII-2 Is coming out tonight at midnight. Will be picking it up and doing a live-stream with my friends at Expansion Pack Here afterwards.

Check us out around 1AM CST if you can :)

- It should be noted the one thing that pushed me to purchase this game for myself was the inclusion of chocobo racing. Chocolina helped, too.

General Update

Work.

I am thinking about quitting work.

I just don’t have enough time to manage school, a portfolio, my hobbies( lolvideogames), AND work. But I’ve never quit a job before, so I’m nervous about doing it.

School.

Aside from that, everything has been going great. My classes this semester seem to be enjoyable and relevant, especially Linear Algebra. Which, by the way, sounds like a low-level math that would be easy… No. Matrices and vectors everywhere. My CS classes also are very interesting. Computer Architecture is more fascinating than I had anticipated.

Livestreams.

I’ve been practicing Livestreams, I think I’m getting a little better at it. The right combination seems to be me and my friend on Skype commenting on games I play. The problem is finding the right game that is popular enough to be interesting to a wide range of people, but not so popular that it’s been overdone.

Overall.

I like how my semester is going, I just need to manage my time better. And also decide on a Grad school. sigh.

New name

Hi everyone,

I’ve been very busy getting ready for this new school year. I’ve also finally set up my livestream and done a few practice ones with my friends.I have also set up new twitter and tumblr accounts to go with my new online name: Archenosaur. Please keep me in mind if you ever get bored and want to watch someone play video games :) .

That said, if anyone has any suggestions for what I should livestream let me know! I will likely be able to stream it the same day.

The Return

Yes, I know, you thought I had abandoned this blog.

So here’s what I’ve been up to since September 2011:

- Got a job at my school, worked 20 hours a week

- Continued doing 18 hours worth of college coursework

- Lost the ability to keep up with my social life due to work/school

- Finished the semester with decent grades, and a raise.

- Somehow managed to work a few video games in (Sonic Adventure DX, Catherine, Sonic Generations — will speak more on such things later)

The Near Future.

Whew! So yeah, I’ve been EXTREMELY busy. Here are some projects I have in the work already for the new year:

- Record a Let’s Play. (I have already set up my computer to do it, now I just need to find the right game).

- Come up with ideas for a youtube channel. Reviews? Top 7s? Lets plays? My ramblings on random video game stories? Hmm..

- My job requires some time out of my life as well, and I have several projects I need to focus on there

- My portfolio for graduate school. Yes, I’ve decided to go to graduate school next Fall.

- Finish up my last semester of college with no surprises

- Continue being addicted to making alts on SWTOR ( ugh, my free time.)

To Wrap up.

So to end this first post of the new year, here’s a screenshot of my SWTOR character. You know, one of them. She’s a Twilek Jedi Sentinel.

Distant Worlds Houston

Here is a terrible quality picture of when my friends and I went to the Distant Worlds concert and Nobuo Uematsu showed up afterwards (He is in the middle, his translator on the left).

My favorite part was when someone asked what is his favorite color chocobo, and his response was:

“Black Chocobo…From Hell!”

Another question was:  “What is your favorite song that you’ve composed?”  – Aerith’s Theme

It was a really beautiful concert, my favorite song played was probably Battle on the Big Bridge.

Minecraft 1.8 – Windwaker World

My friend,  theargylegargoyle , came over to my apartment the other night and showed me a magical girl name generator. Mine was Scream Soldier Conjuress Tara. So of course, I used this as a Minecraft seed.

The result was a world that was 95% Ocean. You start on a small island, with one tree. I punched it down and made a boat, and started sailing. There was a few very small islands dotted throughout the ocean I saw on my journey. After 10 minutes of sailing I came across a medium-sized Island chain, and decided to set up a base. One of the island chains contained a mine that went deep, with lava and waterfalls intertwined in the caverns. Sadly, hunger killed us. There are little to no animals that spawn on the surface, the only way I can think to get food is fishing or farming. Farming took too long to stop the starving.

theargylegargoyle came up with the idea to have a world that we pass the save files around with the seed. The story would be we are a pirate marooned on an island, and we make our boat and set out to sea and set up a base somewhere. Then when we die, we pass the save file on to someone else to do the same thing.
You guys should try out the seed. It’s very interesting, and difficult to survive on.

Bleh.

I’ve been sick the last few days, sorry for the lack of updates! As soon as I can stand to be in front of a computer again I’ll get around to posting for reals.

Reccomended Steam Demo.

I downloaded the demo for the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent after hearing a lot of hype about how scary it was.

From what I could gather, It was a horror game that was particularly good at psychological spookiness and Insanity effects. I’m not one to scare easy at video games or movies, so I was a bit skeptical about how much it could impact me.

The game tells you right off the bat to not worry about saving. I’m not sure if that’s meant to relax you or let you know death is unavoidable: Have fun!

-

Your character is named Daniel, who just so happens to be afflicted with Amnesia. He wakes up in a gloomy castle that’s nearly pitch-black. The game offers you some tips like…lighting some candles so you can see. Makes sense to me.

If you opt to wander around in the darkness the screen begins to shake,  vision is warped,  and Daniel’s breathing becomes erratic. Some pretty realistic insanity effects.

After some good hallway-wandering, puzzles are introduced. Solving puzzles don’t only give the satisfaction of solving them, they also make you less crazy!

The presence of monsters is hinted at, but it’s not quite clear if Daniel is just seeing things, or there really was some kind of shambling horror off in that far-away room.

The climax of the demo definitely got me worked up, It was very stressful and scared the people watching me play pretty badly. If you want to check it out, I’ll leave it to you to see what it it’s like. If you’re into H.P. Lovecraft, or just getting the crap scared out of you,  I’d definitely recommend trying out the demo.

Employed!

This Morning.

I was informed through e-mail that I’ve been hired by my school’s math department. Yay!

I’m  not entirely sure what i’ll be doing, something to do with maintaining software and hardware for them. I’ll find out more thursday when I start work.

I also scored 10/10 on my Cal II quiz, and finished my Logic lab with ease. Today is a good day

Picture of the Day:

My favorite Mario picture. Blue Yoshi makes me happy, and so do winged Koopas (Parakoopa).
